Bone health

Osteoporosis is a silent disease affecting the thickness and strength of the bone. It affects 50% of females and 20% of males over the age of 50. Exercise has been proven to be an important part in the overall management of Bone Health and should be undertaken under the guidance of a Chartered Physiotherapist to ensure that it is done in a safe, controlled and progressive way.

At Monkstown Physiotherapy Clinic, we have both the knowledge and experience to assist you in the management of a diagnosis of Osteopenia or Osteoporosis or to help reduce your risk of developing them. At your first assessment, we will help you to understand your Bone Health diagnosis, explain the results of your DXA scan and provide basic information regarding nutritional factors. We will then devise a suitable exercise program aimed at maintaining and possibly improving your bone density and reducing the risk of falls and fractures.
